Lady Gains Admission To 49 US Universities, Wins $1.3m Scholarship

An 18-year-old Lady, Makenzie Thompson has gained admission into 49 universities in the United States after a stellar performance in high school.

Makenzie Thompson attended Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, and graduated with an outstanding 4.0 grade.

She put out applications to 51 universities in the United States and got accepted into 49 out of the 51 she applied for.

Aside from getting admitted to a whopping 49 universities, she also received a total scholarship grant of $1.5 million.

“The acceptances started coming in the mail and over email. My parents were like, ‘wow, there’s another one.’ We saw the folder getting thicker and thicker over time,” Thompson narrated to Know Your Value.

“Acceptance is one thing, but once you see that they were going to offer me money—that really started adding up fast,” Thompson added.

Thompson believed her outstanding high school grade, extracurricular activities, and hard work helped her secure so much success in her admission.

She stated that her two rejections came from Cornell University in New York and the University of Illinois.

After visiting the 49 universities that admitted her, she decided to attend Tuskegee University in Alabama to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinary doctor.

“Tuskegee’s environment and the atmosphere, the campus life, it made me feel like I was at home and that I would thrive there,” she said.

She had this lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, and Tuskegee University is well-known for producing successful Black veterinarians.

She will start at the university in the fall.
